Green Expo

Saturday I went to the Green Expo in Huntington Beach.  There were booths set up for exhibitors such as Edison, Sierra Club, Bolsa Chica Wetlands, Orange County Sanitation District, Habitat For Humanity, etc. This is a great opportunity for the public to get to know organizations in their community and gain more knowledge about what is a “green” expo.  A green expo has companies that reduce their environmental footprints and can help individuals do the same.

A company I did not expect to see was Boeing.  Boeing informs the public that they are “committed to achieving carbon-neutral growth beyond 2020”. Sustainable aviation biofuel is their strategy to obtaining this goal. “Biofuel is derived from organic sources like plants and algae”.  Interesting and I hope that more aviation companies will start using biofuel as well, so we can have cleaner air and reduced carbon emissions.

To my delight Whole Foods had a booth there with organic munchies such as sunflower seeds, cranraisins, almonds and a catalog of coupons.  How great to be at the beach and having the opportunity to see these companies and organizations that want to make a difference in the planet. It was a nice way to spend Saturday morning.

I hope your weekend was just as wonderful!
